Write to [email protected]. One address reaches all three editors, and messages about corrections are read first.

Sending a correction

A correction is published when it comes with something a reader could check independently. That usually means one of the following: a company name and registration number that can be found in a national register, a link to an entry in a supervisor's database, a published notice from a named regulator with its date, or a page on the platform's own site that states something our file says is absent.

Please include the address of the file you are correcting and quote the sentence you believe is wrong. If your source is a page that may change, send the date you saw it and, if you can, a saved copy.

What we cannot publish is a correction consisting only of an assertion. A message saying that a platform is licensed, without naming the licensing body and the entity holding the licence, does not let us check anything, and printing it would put an unverified claim about a financial firm on the record. That is the specific mistake this site exists to avoid.

If you operate a platform we have filed

You are welcome to write, and the standard is the same as for anyone else. Give the legal name of the operating company, its registration number, its country and any authorisation it holds, and we will run the checks again and rewrite the file. Where a check confirms something, the file will say so and will show the date.

We do not remove files on request, and we do not accept payment for changing, softening or delaying one. We do publish a dated note describing exactly what changed and why, which is a better outcome for an identified business than a deleted page.

Questions from readers

Ask us which registers were searched for a particular file, or how to run a check yourself, and we will answer. There are two things we cannot do. We cannot tell you whether to deposit money anywhere, because that would be advice and we are not authorised to give it. And we cannot recover funds, intervene with a platform or act as a complaints service; that work belongs to your bank, your card issuer and the financial supervisor in your country.

Response times

The desk is small. Corrections carrying a checkable source are handled first, then questions about method, then everything else. If a message needs new searches before it can be answered, the reply may take longer than you would like, and we would rather be slow than answer without looking.
